With more than 190,000 employees, mechanical engineering is the state’s biggest industrial employer and drives innovations like no other sector. As an integral part of North Rhine-Westphalia’s economy and as an engine for innovation, the cluster’s aim is to strengthen both, mechanical engineering and production engineering even further. Produktion.NRW creates connections between enterprises, institutions and networks along the value chain and contributes to making the vision of North Rhine-Westphalia as Germany’s number one innovation state come true.

Currently the FIR contributes to the cluster activities with the projects eco2cut, Flexible Konfigurationslogik für integrierte Produktionssysteme, Graduiertenkolleg Anlaufmanagement, myOpen Product Navigator and WinD.
