The Enterprise Integration Center (EICe) is the core part of the logistics cluster, one of 19 research clusters to be built on an area of 800,000 m² on the new Aachen Campus. The first part of the logistics cluster’s building complexes, involving 14,000 m² and an investment sum of around 21 million euros, is to be completed by October 2012 and will be situated at the future campus boulevard.
With a focus on a completely new form of cooperation between research and industry, the EICe will demonstrate the complexities of logistics in real production and IT environments.
The EICe consists of three innovation laboratories and a real production that will produce marketable products. Therefore, the EICe’s production environment is a direct application and test environment in a real value chain. The innovation labs, for instance, allow to map the production process. Thus, the impact of changes in the production process can be directly reconstructed and visualised in the innovation labs.
In this unique demonstration environment, logistical effects become more tangible in a realistic and integrated production and IT environment:
