Energy Information Systems on the Internet of Production
The aim of the research project EIS4IoP is to improve and optimize the complex and non-transparent introduction of energy management systems by developing a design model for the introduction of energy information systems (EIS) as a decision-making aid.
Initial situation and Solution approach
The future challenge for companies will be to be able to react flexibly to the grid situation within the framework of the possibilities in order to shift energy quantities and thus save energy costs. Energy management systems (EnMS) have proven to be a successful means to save energy costs, conserve resources, ensure security of supply, maintain transparency regarding energy consumption and improve network stability. There is now a legal obligation for energy-intensive companies to obtain ISO 50001 certification and for manufacturing SMEs to conduct an energy audit.
In order to achieve the described goals, requirements determined in advance regarding EIS functionalities are located in the Internet of Production, in order to enable target-specific design recommendations for the introduction of EIS on this basis.
Benefits for the target group
The desired results are to reduce the costs for the setup and integration of an EIS and to save energy costs in the long run by a data-based energy management. For SMEs, this results in three dimensions of cost optimisation potential: savings in an EIS implementation project, reduction of their own energy costs and reduction of energy taxes by reducing the economic costs for network balancing.
