Health Region Aachen: Innovative learning and working

GALA's goal is to develop industry-specific tools and models for work design and competence management, especially for SMEs in the Aachen region, and to disseminate them on a sustainable basis. The focus is on four defined key topics: Human-Machine Interaction, Healthy Working, Digital Collaboration, and Agility/Innovation. In order to sustainably anchor the results and make them available, a "Region Aachen Living Lab Initiative" (RALLI) is being established.

Initial situation

The healthcare industry is one of six defined lead markets in the Aachen region. The industry is of central importance, particularly in inpatient and outpatient care and the manufacture of medical (technical) products. However, the expansion of this lead market requires that industry-specific solutions be found for dealing with digitalization and demographic change.

Solution approach and expected result

Building on analyses of reports and occupational statistics, a SWOT analysis of the region is conducted at the outset. From this, concrete measures on topics of work design and competence management are to be derived. Toolboxes capable of individualization will be developed in the form of modular concepts and methods in the health care sector. Solutions will be developed for specific issues, such as the recruitment of international specialists, which will then be implemented in pilot projects and made accessible as part of "Region Aachen Living Lab Initiative" (RALLI)

Benefits for the target group

The implemented solutions will have a lighthouse character for the further development of the Aachen region and beyond. Especially for SMEs and start-ups, flexible learning and design spaces will be provided, e.g. in innovative communication and cooperation models between science and companies. RALLI will act as a crystallization point to qualify regional and supra-regional interested organizations.
