> Even given the increasing use of AI-based technologies, the workforce continues to be an important component of manufacturing companies. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in particular face the challenge of making the implementation of digitalization strategies and innovative technologies not only effective and efficient, but also peoplefriendly. It is therefore important to support regional companies in their digitalization efforts and to provide appropriate qualification and training. With this goal in mind, the interdisciplinary joint project ‘Human Factors Competence Center for Employment in Industrie 4.0’ was launched in October 2021, scheduled to run for a five-year period. The competence center has been established based on a needs analysis, which already represented the support requirements as well as initial concerns of companies regarding innovative technologies. In order to be able to disseminate the results of the project on a sustainable basis, the competence center will serve as a regional contact point for knowledge and networking. >
