16 Unternehmen der Zukunft 2/2013 UdZ Informationsmanagement In 2013, the demonstration plant will produce real goods in small series such as framework parts for an electric vehicle called “Concept Zeitgeist”, managed by the StreetScooter company. The production environment of the demonstration plant is available for research purposes and provides access to already installed intelligent information systems and technology (sensors, smart objects, ERP systems), move- ment data in real-time and scalable definitions. Processing energy demand data on a shop-floor level and external energy supply data in real- time will allow industrial production plants to extensively monitor and control their energy consumption and efficiency, enable them to automatically adjust production to grid events and identify load shifting potentials in order to substantially increase their flexibility of con- sumption. Energy data from energy suppliers, here represented by the VPP stream (and additionally as cross-WP activity from the Energy Market WP), shall be made available for the demand-side to enable the production to react to shortages, price changes and other events.
