FOCUS – GASTBEITRAG 30 / UdZ 03.22 Basierend auf der langjährigen Zusammenarbeit zwischen dem INC Invention Center und dem Hong Kong Productivity Conuncil (HKPC) und auf deren Initiative hin, führte eine Kooperation zwischen dem RWTH Aachen Campus und dem HKPC erfolgreich zur Gründung des Hong Kong Industrial Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Centre (FLAIR) im Jahr 2020. FLAIR ist neben insgesamt 28 Laboren Teil von ‚InnoHK‘, Hongkongs Leit-Forschungsinitiative zur Förderung der Zusammenarbeit mit internationalen Forschungsinstituten. Zu dieser globalen Forschungsgemeinschaft gehören unter anderem das ACCESS AI Chip Center der Stanford University und das Centre for Perceptual and Interactive Intelligence des MIT. Mit einem Team von mehr als 40 Forscher:innen und Praktiker:innen aus der ganzen Welt entwickelt FLAIR KI-Technologien für die Fertigungsindustrie in der Greater Bay Area (GBA) Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao. FLAIR befindet sich im Hong Kong Science Park zusammen mit über 1000 weiteren Technologie- unternehmen und -firmen. FLAIR entwickelt Technologien im Bereich der Fertigung in 20 angewandten Forschungsprojekten, die in drei Programmen organisiert sind: Digital Shadow, Flexible Production und Intelligent Automation. Im Programm „Digital Shadow” werden KI-Anwendungen auf der Grundlage von digitalen Schatten und Zwillingen entwickelt, um die Produktion zu optimieren und die Hersteller in Hongkong bei der Steuerung ihrer Fabriken zu unterstützen. Im Programm „Flexible Produktion” zielt darauf ab, eine hohe Variabilität bei Produkten und Losgrößen sowie eine individualisierte Produktion in städtischen Gebieten zu ermöglichen. Das Programm „Intelligent Automation” werden Lösungen für die automatisierte Qualitätsprüfung und die intelligente Handhabung von laufenden Arbeiten in der Fabrikumgebung. Das INC Invention Center (INC) und das Center Connected Industry (CCI) auf dem RWTH Aachen Campus arbeiten Based on the long-standing cooperation between INC Invention Center and Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) and on their initiative, a cooperation between RWTH Aachen Campus and HKPC successfully led to the initiation of the Hong Kong Industrial Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Centre (FLAIR) in 2020. FLAIR is integrated alongside a total of 28 labs within ‘InnoHK’ Hong Kongs flagship initiative to promote collaboration with global research institutes. Among others, this global research community is comprised of Stanford University’s ACCESS AI Chip Center and MIT’s Centre for Perceptual and Interactive Intelligence. With a team of more than 40 researchers and practitioners from around the world, FLAIR develops landing AI technologies for the manufacturing industry in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). FLAIR is situated in Hong Kong Science Park along over 1.000 tech enterprises and companies. FLAIR develops technologies in the manufacturing domain in 20 applied research projects organized in three programmes, Digital Shadow, Flexible Production and Intelligent Automation. Within the Digital Shadow programme AI applications are developed to optimise production and support Hong Kong manufacturers in controlling their large-scale factories. The Flexible Production programme enables high variability in products as well as individualised production in urban areas. The Intelligent Automation programme deals with solutions for automated quality inspection and intelligent handling of work in progress in the factory environment. INC Invention Center (INC), and the Center Connected Industry (CCI) at RWTH Aachen Campus together with the FIR at RWTH Aachen University (FIR), the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL), and the Chair for Process and Data Science (PADS) at RWTH Aachen University cooperate within FLAIR, and jointly develop tomorrow’s FLAIR offers the opportunity to collaborate globally and use mutual competences to gain synergies – between Europe and Asia and research and industry. Therefore, the experience of the successfully proven model of RWTH Aachen Campus is applied. Companies in Europe are also invited to use FLAIR as a platform to apply newest AIR Industry 4.0Technology or access the vibrant Hong Kong and GBA area.
