The FIR, as one of the 16 member institutes was of course not to be missed; we presented ourselves in an accompanying exhibition with one of our research projects, 'DiCES: Digital Transformation of the Circular Economy for Industrial Sustainability.' 'DiCES' is just one of our 42 current research projects, a selection of which we inform you about in each issue. The important topic of sustainability is also moving further into focus in our work, for example in the article ‘Energy transition in the neighbourhood’ from the 'AProSys' project. The idea of using AI-supported assistance and forecasting systems to monitor the existing energy infrastructure, assess its condition and predict outages is another topic that affects us all and can support us in our sustainability endeavours. Forecasts are also the subject of the article ‘Securing and promoting the skills of the future’ in the 'pro-kom' project – albeit not for electricity grids, but for the labour market. The intended results of the research project should enable small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to identify future skills requirements at an early stage and close existing gaps. With the help of a skills forecasting tool, SMEs should be able to maintain their competitiveness in the current, constantly changing world of work. As you can see, we have a lot going on as usual. New projects are picking up speed, events are in full swing and ideas are being developed further. Even and especially in times of crisis, it is advisable to remain optimistic and take a solution-orientated approach when looking at new horizons. Are you on board? . Das FIR als eines der 16 Mitgliedsinstitute durfte natürlich nicht fehlen; so präsentierten wir uns in einer Begleitausstellung mit einem unserer Forschungsprojekte, ‚DiCES: Digitale Transformation der Kreislaufwirtschaft für industrielle Nachhaltigkeit‘. ‚DiCES‘ ist nur eines unserer 42 aktuell laufenden Forschungsprojekte, über die wir Sie in jedem Heft in einer Auswahl informieren. Das wichtige Thema Nachhaltigkeit rückt auch in unserer Arbeit weiter in den Fokus, nachzulesen beispielsweise im Artikel „Energiewende in der Nachbarschaft“ des Projekts ‚AProSys‘. Die Idee, KI-gestützte Assistenz- und Prognosesysteme einzusetzen, um die bestehende Energie-Infrastruktur zu überwachen, Zustandsbewertungen vorzunehmen und Ausfälle vorherzusagen, ist ein weiteres Thema, das uns alle betrifft und das uns in unseren Nach- haltigkeitsbestrebungen unterstützen kann. Um Prognosen geht es auch im Artikel „Kompetenzen der Zukunft sichern und fördern“ des Projekts ‚pro-kom‘ – wenn auch nicht bei Stromnetzen, sondern auf dem Arbeitsmarkt. Die angestrebten Ergebnisse des Forschungsprojekts sollen kleine und mittlere Unternehmen (KMU) dazu befähigen, zukünftige Kompetenzbedarfe frühzeitig zu identifizieren und bestehende Lücken zu schließen. Mithilfe eines Kompetenzprognose-Tools sollen KMU in die Lage versetzt werden, ihre Wettbewerbsfähigkeit in der gegenwärtigen, sich kontinuierlich verändernden Arbeitswelt zu erhalten. Wie Sie sehen, ist bei uns wie immer jede Menge los. Neue Projekte nehmen Fahrt auf, Veranstaltungen sind in vollem Gange, Ideen werden weiterentwickelt. Auch und gerade in krisenreichen Zeiten empfiehlt es sich, optimistisch zu bleiben und lösungsorientiert voranzugehen, wenn man neue Horizonte in den Blick nimmt. Sind Sie dabei?
