Stroh: Ich habe hier in Aachen Maschinenbau studiert und war zu der Zeit noch HiWi in der Getriebetechnik amWerkzeugmaschinenlabor WZL der RWTH Aachen – ultimativer Maschinenbau also. Während eines Praktikums in Detroit, USA, habe ich für mich festgestellt, dass mich die Datenauswertung über die verschiedenen Maschinen hinweg eigentlich viel mehr begeistert als der reine Maschinenbau. Für mich stand damals schon fest: Es muss mehr geben, als jedes Zahnrad bis ins kleinste Mikrodetail zu optimieren. Ich habe dann imRahmenmeines Studiums die Vorlesung zur industriellen Logistik von Professor Stich gehört und fand sowohl das Thema als auch Herrn Stich als Lehrenden sehr ansprechend. Stroh: I studied mechanical engineering here in Aachen and I worked as a student assistant in the area of gear technology at the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL) at RWTH Aachen University – mechanical engineering in its purest form. During an internship in Detroit, USA, I realized that I was much more interested in data analysis across different machines than in pure mechanical engineering. At that time, I came to realize that there must be more to than optimizing each and every gear down to the smallest micro detail. Then, as part of my studies, I attended Professor Stich's lecture on industrial logistics and found both the subject and Prof. Stich as a lecturer very appealing.
