UrbanMove

Joint project "Inner-city mobility platform based on autonomous PeopleMover"; Subprojects "Business Models and Implementation".

The aim is to design and pilot a novel, intelligent inner-city mobility solution. A collaboration of innovative SMEs from the structurally weak urban region of Aachen is herewith funded to implement this. The result will be an integrative customer-centered service platform for autonomous electric shuttle, so-called "PeopleMover".

The core of the UrbanMove research project is the hypothesis that in the near future major cities will have to reposition themselves for a lower-emission future with innovative mobility services. Previous approaches are not sufficient to meet simultaneously the demands for zero emissions and mobility requirements at reasonable costs. Achieving this combination has so far been an unsolved challenge and thus currently an abomination that must be countered with new approaches.

The project is carried out in cooperation with the local SMEs e.GO, fleetbutler and Dialego and in cooperation with the City of Aachen (Stadt Aachen).

The concrete result of the research project is a service platform for a new mobility concept on which information flows from different stakeholders are collected and intelligently processed. The platform includes technical interfaces to PeopleMovers as well as to users via apps.

This holistic concept brings together different perspectives and stakeholders, such as users, operators, the city, retailers and companies in the region. For the involvement of stakeholders outside this project development, the platform is designed with open interfaces, the legal framework conditions are observed and the end-to-end user requirements are focused.

To ensure economic operation, a viable business model is developed for the mobility concept and recorded in a business plan at the end of the project.
