Versatile through integration potential and diversity

A superordinated goal of the research project WInD was the conception of a versatile production system for the branch of mechanical and plant egngineering. The coordination ability in production networks, which is very important for this branch , was supposed to be increased significantly.

WInD was a project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research as part of the initiative for "Changeable production systems" within the framework "Research for the production of to the future". The hypothesis to achieve a changeable production especially in the sector of machine and plant manufacture was to increase the ability of coordination in the production network by integration of internal and external information flow and building on that by differentiated order processes.
